Economic liberalization and entry of multi-national firms within the Indian business scenario has meant a growing need for trained and qualified managers and professionals capable of dealing with tough situations. This is precisely what MBA education provides. The increase in demand for MBA education led to emergence of the prestigious IIMs that wished to select only best and the most talented students. Thus, was born the Common Admission Test(CAT).
CAT Exam – TimeLine
Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C) was the first ever IIM to be established by the Government of India in November 1961, in collaboration with the Government of West Bengal, MIT Sloan School of Management, Ford Foundation and the support of the Indian industry. Eventually 5 more IIMs were set-up at Ahmedabad (1961), Bangalore (1973), Lucknow (1984), Kozhikode (1996) and Indore (1998). With a gap of ten years, IIM Shillong (2008) and then IIM Ranchi (2009), IIM Rohtak and IIM Raipur (2010) were added to the IIM line-up. Another two more IIMs had been founded by 2012, IIM Kashipur and Tiruchirappalli. 2015 was a significant year for the MBA aspirants with 6 new IIMs coming into picture – IIM Nagpur, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Vishakhapatnam, IIM Sambhalpur, IIM Amritsar, IIM Sirmaur. With further rise in the number of MBA applicants, the IIMs developed the Common Admission Test (CAT) as primary evaluation for selection.
CAT Exam – Changing Pattern
CAT Evolution:
1990’s : In the 90s CAT decided to include 4 sections namely Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation, Logical reasoning and English (Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary). Throughout the 1990s the CAT exam remained more or less unchanged with 174 to 190 questions distributed in four sections.
1999 to 2008 : There was a decrease in the total number of questions while the number of sections remained consistent. The number of questions reduced from 165 to 150, to 123, to 90 and then finally to 75 in 2008.
2009 and 2010 : On the 1st of May, it was announced that from 2009, CAT would be a Computer Based (Online) Test. In the 2009 CAT, the number of questions decreased to 60.
2011 to 2014 : CAT had two sections – the one on Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation; two on Verbal Ability and third on Logical Reasoning. Each of these sections had 30 questions and the time for each section was 70 minutes.
CAT 2014 made slight changes to the pattern. Test-takers could switch to any of the section as per their choice. Each of these sections had 50 questions and the time span was 170 minutes.
2015 to 2018 : CAT 2015 exam had three sections: first Quantitative Ability, second Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, third Verbal & Reading Comprehension. Sections 1 had 34 questions, Section 2 had 32 questions and Section 3 had 34 questions. The duration of exam is 3hrs, Each section was of 1 hour, thus the total time was 180 minutes. Non-MCQ or Type In The Answer (TITA) type questions, where the answer had to be typed in, were introduced. There was negative marking for the MCQ questions but there was no negative marking for non-MCQ questions.
In CAT 2016 the sectional order was inverted. First section of Verbal and Reading Comprehension; second section of Data Interpretation & third section of Logical Reasoning; Quantitative Ability.
CAT 2018 continued with the same pattern as the previous years. The first section had 7 non-mcq questions, the second section had 7 non-mcq questions & the third section had 12 non mcq questions & a total of 100 questions.
CAT 2019 continued the same pattern as the previous years. There were a total of 100 questions in the test. It had three sections, appearing in the order Verbal and Reading Comprehension; Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning; Quantitative Ability. Duration of the exam is 3 hrs and 1hr per section.
CAT 2020 decided to change the exam pattern from the earlier years. It had 76 questions. It had three sections, appearing in the order Verbal and Reading Comprehension; Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning; Quantitative Ability. Each section consisted of 40 minutes, thus the total time was 120 minutes.
Percentages vs. Percentile :
Percentile : CAT scorecard has percentile not percentage. While percentages represent the performance of individual students, percentile depicts how the students’ individual scores compare to those of other students. So if a student scored 98 percentile, then it does not mean that he/she has gotten 98% of the total marks. In reality, it means that, out of say a 100 test-takers, he/she has scored above 97 other test-takers. It also shows that 2 of the test-takers have scored above him/her. In a simplification, percentile represents the percentage of students who have scored less than you have.
Sectional Cutoffs :
CAT scores are accepted by numerous institutes including the IIMs. Many of these institutes have a specific cut off marks; some even have individual cut-offs for each section. The cut off scores from each section will again vary between institutes. Many institutes do not have any sectional cut-off requirements. The CAT is conducted by the IIMs for the short-listing of candidates for their programmes.

I have completed my Bachelor’s Degree. Do I need to submit the overall percentage of marks or as per my University standards?
As per CAT eligibility criteria, you must submit the percentage according to your university norms.
I have not completed my Bachelor’s Degree/I am in final year of Bachelor’s degree. What marks do I need to enter in the Application form?
As per the CAT eligibility criteria, you must provide the Aggregate Percentage up to the last marks statement received from the University.
I am not pursuing or completed my Bachelor’s degree or any Professional degree like CA/CS/ICWA etc., Am I eligible to appear for CAT?
As you are not appearing/ completed any Bachelor Degree or not completed any Professional degree like CA/CS/ICWA etc., you are not eligible to appear for CAT
Is there any age restriction for taking the CAT exam?
No, there is no age restriction for taking the CAT exam.
Where can I pay the CAT exam fee?
You can pay the CAT exam fee during online registration. The payment of application fee should be done payment gateway. Use a valid credit card, debit card, or net banking facility.
Can I use my coaching institute’s or a friend’s email address when registering for CAT?
No. You must provide a valid and unique email address. All correspondence pertaining to CAT and subsequent information during the selection stages of the respective IIMs will be communicated to the registered email address.
I have done 5 years integrated course of B.Tech and MBA. As per my university norms first 3.5 years is considered to be B.Tech and remaining 1.5 years is considered to be MBA. How do I enter my marks?
As per your University norms, you will enter the aggregate percentage of first 3.5 years under Bachelor’s Degree and remaining 1.5 years under Master’s degree.
I have completeda 5-year dual degree course (BTech+MTech, BS+MS, BTech+MSc etc.)? How do I enter my marks for a bachelor degree?
As per your university norms, you must enter the aggregate of marks that are equivalent to Bachelors’ Degree under the Bachelor’s Degree section and the equivalent Marks for the Masters’ degree under the Master Degree section.
I have completed dual Bachelors’ degree courses (BCom+LLB, BPharm+BTech etc.). How do I enter my marks for two Bachelor degrees?
On the CAT application form, you must select the option indicating that you have dual Bachelors’ Degrees. You can then enter the details of both qualifications.
Can I appear for more than one slot for CAT ?
You cannot appear for more than one slot. It will be deemed as a fraudulent activity if you attempt to appear more than once for CAT . To ensure that candidates have only one attempt, Admit Cards, photo IDs, candidate pictures, and biometric information will be verified. Candidates who attempt to take the test more than once will be eliminated anytime during the selection process.
I have made mistake(s) while registering/entering the details in my CAT application. What should I do now?
You cannot edit certain personal details like Name, Date of Birth, email id, mobile number etc., at any stage in the application process (either before or after submitting the application). If you have made a mistake in these details, you must register again with a new email ID. Your CAT application will be considered for the latest registration and the Admit Card will be issued for the same. Please note that you will not receive a refund or Admit Card for your earlier registration. Failure to re-register in such circumstances may lead to the nullification of your candidature.
You can edit some personal details, such as Communication Address, gender, category, educational information, work experience, or exam city preferences etc. until you have not submitted the Application Form. To do so, click the Existing User Login option on the CAT website.
After you submit the application, there will be a limited time window during which can you modify very limited details like Percentage of Marks scored, Work Experience, Programmes Selected etc. You will not be able to modify any of the following: any details entered in the Personal Details section, any details entered in the Academics section except the percentage marks scored, Exam Centre City Preferences. You can only view and print after this. Details are available on the application submission page. You are strongly encouraged to preview your application before submission to ensure that all the details are correct.
In case the website does not work and I am unable to complete my application, what should I do?
. If the registration website is not accessible for any reason, please close the Internet browser (delete browsing history, cache & cookies of the web browser) and try again.
I have changed my name with the due procedure after completing my degree. Should I enter my name as per the degree certificate or the changed name?
You must enter your changed name and provide the supporting documents for change of name at the time of examination, interview, and admission.
I have an SC/ST certificate in the format uploaded on the CAT website. Can I use the same certificate or do I have to download the certificate template from the CAT website and fill it again?
If your certificate fulfills the following conditions; you can upload the same certificate:
• The certificate should have been issued by a competent authority.
• The name of the caste and caste number should appear in the certificate.
• The Ministry’s resolution/order number should be available.
• The certificate should be in Hindi or English only.
I have changed my name with the due procedure after completing my degree. Should I enter my name as per the degree certificate or the changed name?
You must enter your changed name and provide the supporting documents for change of name at the time of examination, interview, and admission.
Which screen appears after I log into the website post registration?
After successful registration, you can use the system generated User ID and Password to log in to the website. Upon logging in, you will first see the Registration Summary page. Click on Go to Application Form. This will direct you to the application form page.
What should I do if I have not received the password or have lost the SMS?
If you have not received the password or have lost the SMS, click the Forgot Password option on the Existing User login page. You will be prompted to enter a Captcha string. The new password will be sent to your registered email address.
I have received multiple passwords. Which password should I enter to login?
You need to use the password contained in the most recent SMS you have received. In case you are not able to login, you can simply use your user id and click ‘forgot password’. You will receive a new password through email on your registered email id.
My University name is not mentioned in the drop-down list while filling the application form?
If your university’s name does not appear in the drop-down, you may select the option as “Others” from the drop-down.

How is the computer-based format different from the paper-based format?
In the computer-based format, the candidate reads a question on a computer terminal and clicks on the correct answer from among the options given or types the answer in case of question where no options are given. Additionally, the timer on the computer screen tells you the remaining time to complete the current section.In the paper-based format, the candidate reads a question on a paper booklet and uses a pencil to darken the ovals on an answer-sheet. Additionally, a timer will be displayed on the screen that tells you how many more minutes to complete the current section.
Can I take the exam from any computer?
A candidate must take the exam on a workstation assigned at the exam venue based on the city selected while registering for CAT. The venue details are printed on the Admit Card.
How many sections are there in CAT ?
CAT will have three sections:
• Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
• Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
• Section III: Quantitative Ability
What does a CBT exam look like?
A practice test will be available on the CAT website: www.iimcat.ac.in. You can familiarize yourself with the functionality and navigation of the actual exam.
Where can I select my preference of shift and test date?
The exam shift (forenoon or afternoon) is allocated for each registered candidate based on the city preference made at the time of application. A candidate cannot select the shift.

The scoring scheme for Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) is as follows:

Does CAT have a syllabus for exam preparation?
No, the CAT exam does not have a defined syllabus for CAT preparation. However, you can attempt the mock test to understand the pattern of exam and types of questions. Check the CAT website regularly for the announcement of mock test.

Which documents must I submit if I belong to the SC/ST category?
If you belong to the SC or ST category, your caste/tribe must be listed in the Government of India schedule. For more information, refer the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment website and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs website (tribal.nic.in). The caste certificate that you upload in the Application Form should be in the Government approved format. The certificate format is also available on the CAT website under the Certificates section. Download and print the certificate, and clearly state the following:
• Name of your caste/tribe.
• Whether you belong to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe.
• District and the State or Union Territory of your ordinary residence

Who is eligible to take the test under the PWD category?
As per the “Persons with Disability Act, 1995”, a candidate qualifies to be a PWD candidate if he/she suffers from any of the listed disabilities to the extent of not less than 40 per cent as certified by a competent medical authority in the prescribed format. The certificate format is available on www.iimcat.ac.in under the section Certificates. The following categories are defined by IIMs for PWD candidates:

I am a PWD candidate with Blindness or low vision/cerebral palsy. What privileges will I receive on the test day?
PWD candidates suffering from low vision/blindness/cerebral palsy will be allowed to bring a scribe. Such candidates will also receive a time extension during the examination.
Will the extra one hour be distributed among three sections?
Yes. For PWD candidates, the extra one hour will be distributed into 20 minutes for each section. That is, PWD candidates will have 80 minutes to attempt each section, while the other candidates will have 60 minutes per section.
What will be the time extension given to a PWD candidate?
PWD candidates with or without Scribe requirement will be given a time extension of 20 minutes per section, which comes to a total extension of one hour for the full test.

Economic liberalization and entry of multi-national firms within the Indian business scenario has meant a growing need for trained and qualified managers and professionals capable of dealing with tough situations. This is precisely what MBA education provides. The increase in demand for MBA education led to emergence of the prestigious IIMs that wished to select only best and the most talented students. Thus, was born the Common Admission Test(CAT).CAT Exam – TimeLine
Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C) was the first ever IIM to be established by the Government of India in November 1961, in collaboration with the Government of West Bengal, MIT Sloan School of Management, Ford Foundation and the support of the Indian industry. Eventually 5 more IIMs were set-up at Ahmedabad (1961), Bangalore (1973), Lucknow (1984), Kozhikode (1996) and Indore (1998). With a gap of ten years, IIM Shillong (2008) and then IIM Ranchi (2009), IIM Rohtak and IIM Raipur (2010) were added to the IIM line-up. Another two more IIMs had been founded by 2012, IIM Kashipur and Tiruchirappalli. 2015 was a significant year for the MBA aspirants with 6 new IIMs coming into picture – IIM Nagpur, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Vishakhapatnam, IIM Sambhalpur, IIM Amritsar, IIM Sirmaur. With further rise in the number of MBA applicants, the IIMs developed the Common Admission Test (CAT) as primary evaluation for selection.
CAT Exam – Changing Pattern
CAT Evolution:
1990’s : In the 90s CAT decided to include 4 sections namely Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation, Logical reasoning and English (Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary). Throughout the 1990s the CAT exam remained more or less unchanged with 174 to 190 questions distributed in four sections.
1999 to 2008 : There was a decrease in the total number of questions while the number of sections remained consistent. The number of questions reduced from 165 to 150, to 123, to 90 and then finally to 75 in 2008.
2009 and 2010 : On the 1st of May, it was announced that from 2009, CAT would be a Computer Based (Online) Test. In the 2009 CAT, the number of questions decreased to 60.
2011 to 2014 : CAT had two sections – the one on Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation; two on Verbal Ability and third on Logical Reasoning. Each of these sections had 30 questions and the time for each section was 70 minutes.
CAT 2014 made slight changes to the pattern. Test-takers could switch to any of the section as per their choice. Each of these sections had 50 questions and the time span was 170 minutes.
2015 to 2018 : CAT 2015 exam had three sections: first Quantitative Ability, second Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, third Verbal & Reading Comprehension. Sections 1 had 34 questions, Section 2 had 32 questions and Section 3 had 34 questions. The duration of exam is 3hrs, Each section was of 1 hour, thus the total time was 180 minutes. Non-MCQ or Type In The Answer (TITA) type questions, where the answer had to be typed in, were introduced. There was negative marking for the MCQ questions but there was no negative marking for non-MCQ questions.
In CAT 2016 the sectional order was inverted. First section of Verbal and Reading Comprehension; second section of Data Interpretation & third section of Logical Reasoning; Quantitative Ability.
CAT 2018 continued with the same pattern as the previous years. The first section had 7 non-mcq questions, the second section had 7 non-mcq questions & the third section had 12 non mcq questions & a total of 100 questions.
CAT 2019 continued the same pattern as the previous years. There were a total of 100 questions in the test. It had three sections, appearing in the order Verbal and Reading Comprehension; Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning; Quantitative Ability. Duration of the exam is 3 hrs and 1hr per section.
CAT 2020 decided to change the exam pattern from the earlier years. It had 76 questions. It had three sections, appearing in the order Verbal and Reading Comprehension; Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning; Quantitative Ability. Each section consisted of 40 minutes, thus the total time was 120 minutes.

Percentages vs. Percentile :
Percentile : CAT scorecard has percentile not percentage. While percentages represent the performance of individual students, percentile depicts how the students’ individual scores compare to those of other students. So if a student scored 98 percentile, then it does not mean that he/she has gotten 98% of the total marks. In reality, it means that, out of say a 100 test-takers, he/she has scored above 97 other test-takers. It also shows that 2 of the test-takers have scored above him/her. In a simplification, percentile represents the percentage of students who have scored less than you have.
Sectional Cutoffs :
CAT scores are accepted by numerous institutes including the IIMs. Many of these institutes have a specific cut off marks; some even have individual cut-offs for each section. The cut off scores from each section will again vary between institutes. Many institutes do not have any sectional cut-off requirements. The CAT is conducted by the IIMs for the short-listing of candidates for their programmes.

As per your university norms, you must enter the aggregate of marks that are equivalent to Bachelors’ Degree under the Bachelor’s Degree section and the equivalent Marks for the Masters’ degree under the Master Degree section.
I have completed dual Bachelors’ degree courses (BCom+LLB, BPharm+BTech etc.). How do I enter my marks for two Bachelor degrees?
On the CAT application form, you must select the option indicating that you have dual Bachelors’ Degrees. You can then enter the details of both qualifications.
Can I appear for more than one slot for CAT ?
You cannot appear for more than one slot. It will be deemed as a fraudulent activity if you attempt to appear more than once for CAT . To ensure that candidates have only one attempt, Admit Cards, photo IDs, candidate pictures, and biometric information will be verified. I have made mistake(s) while registering/entering the details in my CAT application. What should I do now?
You cannot edit certain personal details like Name, Date of Birth, email id, mobile number etc., at any stage in the application process (either before or after submitting the application). If you have made a mistake in these details, you must register again with a new email ID. Your CAT application will be considered for the latest registration and the Admit Card will be issued for the same. Please note that you will not receive a refund or Admit Card for your earlier registration. Failure to re-register in such circumstances may lead to the nullification of your candidature.
You can edit some personal details, such as Communication Address, gender, category, educational information, work experience, or exam city preferences etc. until you have not submitted the Application Form. To do so, click the Existing User Login option on the CAT website.
After you submit the application, there will be a limited time window during which can you modify very limited details like Percentage of Marks scored, Work Experience, Programmes Selected etc. You will not be able to modify any of the following: any details entered in the Personal Details section, any details entered in the Academics section except the percentage marks scored, Exam Centre City Preferences. You can only view and print after this. Details are available on the application submission page. You are strongly encouraged to preview your application before submission to ensure that all the details are correct.In case the website does not work and I am unable to complete my application, what should I do?
. If the registration website is not accessible for any reason, please close the Internet browser (delete browsing history, cache & cookies of the web browser) and try again.
I have changed my name with the due procedure after completing my degree. Should I enter my name as per the degree certificate or the changed name?
You must enter your changed name and provide the supporting documents for change of name at the time of examination, interview, and admission.
I have an SC/ST certificate in the format uploaded on the CAT website. Can I use the same certificate or do I have to download the certificate template from the CAT website and fill it again?
If your certificate fulfills the following conditions; you can upload the same certificate:
• The certificate should have been issued by a competent authority.
• The name of the caste and caste number should appear in the certificate.
• The Ministry’s resolution/order number should be available.

Which screen appears after I log into the website post registration?
After successful registration, you can use the system generated User ID and Password to log in to the website. Upon logging in, you will first see the Registration Summary page. Click on Go to Application Form. This will direct you to the application form page.
What should I do if I have not received the password or have lost the SMS?
If you have not received the password or have lost the SMS, click the Forgot Password option on the Existing User login page. You will be prompted to enter a Captcha string. The new password will be sent to your registered email address.
I have received multiple passwords. Which password should I enter to login?
You need to use the password contained in the most recent SMS you have received. In case you are not able to login, you can simply use your user id and click ‘forgot password’. You will receive a new password through email on your registered email id.
My University name is not mentioned in the drop-down list while filling the application form?
If your university’s name does not appear in the drop-down, you may select the option as “Others” from the drop-down.
CAT FAQs – Admit Card
If I do not get my Admit Card, whom should I contact?
The Admit Card needs to be directly printed from the CAT website using your User ID and Password. The admit card will not be mailed to your postal address.

When should the hall ticket/admit card be produced?
The CAT Admit Card is a mandatory document required to take the exam. You must print the Admit Card and bring it to the exam centre on the exam day. Follow the instructions provided in the Admit Card before coming for the examination. Please affix the same uploaded photograph in the physical admit card during the process of registration.

How is the computer-based format different from the paper-based format?
In the computer-based format, the candidate reads a question on a computer terminal and clicks on the correct answer from among the options given or types the answer in case of question where no options are given. Additionally, the timer on the computer screen tells you the remaining time to complete the current section.In the paper-based format, the candidate reads a question on a paper booklet and uses a pencil to darken the ovals on an answer-sheet. Additionally, a timer will be displayed on the screen that tells you how many more minutes to complete the current section.
Can I take the exam from any computer?
A candidate must take the exam on a workstation assigned at the exam venue based on the city selected while registering for CAT. The venue details are printed on the Admit Card.
How many sections are there in CAT ?
CAT will have three sections:
• Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
• Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
• Section III: Quantitative AbilityWhat does a CBT exam look like?
A practice test will be available on the CAT website: www.iimcat.ac.in. You can familiarize yourself with the functionality and navigation of the actual exam.
Where can I select my preference of shift and test date?
The exam shift (forenoon or afternoon) is allocated for each registered candidate based on the city preference made at the time of application. A candidate cannot select the shift.
Can I bring a calculator to the testing centre?
Candidates are prohibited from bringing calculators to the testing centre. You may use the on-screen calculator that will be available throughout the exam.
How many non-MCQs are there in each section?
The number of questions varies and cannot be disclosed.
Are there negative marks for questions other than MCQs?
No, there are no negative marks for non-MCQ type questions.
Is there a specific order for answering sections? Can I attempt sections the way I want?
You must answer the sections in a pre-specified order and this order will remain the same for all test takers.
What is the marking/grading scheme for CAT? Is there negative marking for a wrong answer?
For questions other than MCQs, 3 marks are assigned for ‘correct answer’ and no marks for ‘incorrect answer or no attempt’.
The scoring scheme for Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) is as follows:
• Each correct answer is awarded 3 marks.
• An incorrect answer fetches -1.
• No marks are given or deducted for unattempted questions.Does CAT have a syllabus for exam preparation?
No, the CAT exam does not have a defined syllabus for CAT preparation. However, you can attempt the mock test to understand the pattern of exam and types of questions. Check the CAT website regularly for the announcement of mock test.

What is the difference between the CAT answer key and CAT response sheet ?
The CAT answer key will display the correct answer for each question whereas the CAT response sheet will show the answers provided by the test taker on the test day.
When will IIM release the CAT answer key ?

Under which categories can I apply for CAT?
You can apply under the following categories:

• Non-Creamy Other Backward Class (NC-OBC)Which documents must I submit if I belong to the SC/ST category?
If you belong to the SC or ST category, your caste/tribe must be listed in the Government of India schedule. For more information, refer the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment website and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs website (tribal.nic.in). The caste certificate that you upload in the Application Form should be in the Government approved format. The certificate format is also available on the CAT website under the Certificates section. Download and print the certificate, and clearly state the following:
• Name of your caste/tribe.
• Whether you belong to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe.
• District and the State or Union Territory of your ordinary residence
• The appropriate Government of India schedule under which your caste/tribe is approved, whether Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe.

CAT FAQs – Persons with Disability
Who is eligible to take the test under the PWD category?
As per the “Persons with Disability Act, 1995”, a candidate qualifies to be a PWD candidate if he/she suffers from any of the listed disabilities to the extent of not less than 40 per cent as certified by a competent medical authority in the prescribed format. The certificate format is available on www.iimcat.ac.in under the section Certificates. The following categories are defined by IIMs for PWD candidates:
• Low Vision/Blindness
• Hearing Impairment
• Locomotive Disability/ Cerebral PalsyWhich are the acceptable testing devices that I can use/bring to the test centre?
The approved means of testing assistance are:

Based on your request in the Application Form, only a magnifying screen (System Built feature) and a wheelchair will be arranged by the test centre. All other approved means of testing assistance including Abacus, hearing aids, wheelchair, Scribe/reader need to be arranged by you.
I am a PWD candidate with Blindness or low vision/cerebral palsy. What privileges will I receive on the test day?
PWD candidates suffering from low vision/blindness/cerebral palsy will be allowed to bring a scribe. Such candidates will also receive a time extension during the examination.
Will the extra one hour be distributed among three sections?
Yes. For PWD candidates, the extra one hour will be distributed into 20 minutes for each section. That is, PWD candidates will have 80 minutes to attempt each section, while the other candidates will have 60 minutes per section.
What will be the time extension given to a PWD candidate?
PWD candidates with or without Scribe requirement will be given a time extension of 20 minutes per section, which comes to a total extension of one hour for the full test.
